Can You Turn a YouTube Playlist into an M3U File?
Short answer: no reliable, legitimate tool converts a YouTube playlist into an M3U file, and that's by design, not a gap someone forgot to fill.
Why it doesn't work the way people expect
An M3U entry is just a direct, playable stream URL. YouTube deliberately doesn't hand those out — its videos are served through a system that ties playback to YouTube's own player and rotates the underlying URLs constantly specifically to prevent exactly this kind of extraction. Tools that claim to do this are scraping YouTube in a way that violates YouTube's Terms of Service, and the extracted links typically expire within hours, if they work at all.
We won't build this, and you shouldn't rely on it
We deliberately don't offer a YouTube-to-M3U extractor. Beyond the Terms of Service problem, it's a fragile approach: YouTube changes its internal delivery format often enough that any such tool breaks constantly, and the channel you're trying to watch could be pulled down without notice since it was never meant to be redistributed this way.
What to use instead
- If you want live TV channels in M3U format, use a legitimate IPTV playlist from your provider, or browse our directory of free, publicly available broadcaster channels — no conversion needed.
- If you specifically want YouTube content on your TV, YouTube's own official apps (Smart TV, Chromecast, AirPlay from a phone) are the intended route and don't involve M3U at all.
- If a YouTube channel also runs an official live stream elsewhere with a real M3U feed (some news broadcasters do), that direct link — published by the broadcaster itself — is fair game for any IPTV player, including ours.
