How to Set Up IPTV on Kodi (PVR IPTV Simple Client)
Kodi turns a PC, Android box, or Fire Stick into a full home-theater system — and with one official add-on, it becomes a capable IPTV player with a real TV guide. The setup takes ten minutes; here's the whole thing.
Step 1: Install PVR IPTV Simple Client
- In Kodi, go to Settings → Add-ons → Install from repository → PVR clients.
- Select "PVR IPTV Simple Client" and press Install. It's an official Kodi add-on — no third-party repositories needed.
Step 2: Add your playlist
- Open the add-on's Configure screen → General → Location: "Remote path" for an M3U URL, or "Local path" for a downloaded file.
- Paste your playlist URL (or browse to the file) and press OK.
- Kodi asks to enable Live TV — accept, and your channels appear under TV in the main menu.
Step 3 (optional): Add EPG data
In the same Configure screen, the EPG tab accepts an XMLTV URL — the same guide link your provider supplies. Once it refreshes, Kodi's TV section shows a full program grid. If the guide stays empty, the usual cause is channel-ID mismatches between playlist and guide file.
Is Kodi worth it for IPTV?
If you already use Kodi for your media library, absolutely — live TV integrates beautifully. If you'd be installing Kodi only to play a playlist, it's heavy machinery for the job: a web player does the paste-and-watch part in seconds, with no add-on configuration at all.
